SK Hand Tool is a trusted manufacturer of tools for the professional mechanic. Its portfolio of nearly 4,000 tools are all made in America and sold throughout the automotive and industrial channels of distribution, including independent tool-truck dealers, auto parts stores and major internet vendors.
SK Hand Tools was founded in 1921 by Mason H. Sherman and Roger Klove as the Sherman-Klove Company. They first specialized in screw-machine products, but during the 1920s SK operated primarily as a contract company, making tools for other companies including Craftsman.
Among the industry-leading innovations developed by SK was a new mechanism behind the “round head” ratchet, able to scale from 1/4-drive up to 3/4-drive. The "round-head" has remained one of the most popular ratchet styles in the seven decades since SK's first design and many modern ratchets are still based on those early designs. They’ve remained a mainstay of SK and every major competitor to this day.
SK was acquired by IDEAL INDUSTRIES in 2010.
